Pillows get dirt, sweat, and oil over time, which causes them to turn yellow and become less comfortable. Cleaning your pillows will keep this from happening. - Before you start washing your pillow, whether by machine or by hand, make sure to remove the case or cover.
1. Remove the casing:
Remove any pillowcases or fakes that you have on your pillow right now. Some pillows include additional zip-on cases, which should be removed and washed separately from the pillow’s body.
2. Put your pillows in the washing machine:
Trust that washing pillows in the washing machine is completely safe, especially for feather pillows. To keep the washer balanced and the pillows from being flung around too much, try washing at least two at once. Before putting your pillows in the laundry, try wiping the surface with a mixture of one part white vinegar and one part warm water if they have become yellow.
3. Add your detergent to the mix:
Add a cup or scoop of laundry detergent for a typical wash session. Along with the detergent, add the following to your pillows to get them white: Mix one cup of powdered dishwasher detergent, half a cup of borax, and the required amount of bleach. Alternatively, you can use a specific detergent for white clothing that is discolored.
- Start the Wash Cycle:
Make sure your washer is set to run with hot water and complete a second rinse cycle. Use your washer’s “bulky/large” cycle, if it is available. Next, allow it to do its magic.
- Put your pillows in the dryer.
After placing your pillows in the dryer, make the necessary settings. if your pillows contain feathers, select “air,” “fluff,” or “no heat.” Turn the heat down on your dryer if you use synthetic pillows.
- Dry your pillows:
Put each of the two tennis balls into a different pair of fresh, white socks. To assist shorten the drying time of your pillows, toss these in the dryer with them. Next, turn on your dryer.
- Check Your Pillows:
Take the pillows out of the dryer when the cycle is complete and feel them to see if they are damp. Examine the cushions’ scents to see if there is any moisture within.
