Do you love the scent and potential germ-killing abilities of thieves essential oil? If you have a few oils on hand, you can easily make your own thieves type essential oil.
If you enjoy essential oils, you may have heard of essential oil blends. They all have an easy spiced scent and can be used for a variety of purposes around the home. The story behind Thieves oil dates back to the 15th century, when Europe and Asia were devastated by the bubonic plague. While robbing hundreds of corpses, the four thieves from Europe appeared unconcerned about the disease. According to the story, not a single one of the thieves caught the deadly and highly contagious disease. When they were apprehended and brought to court, the magistrate offered them a deal: keep their secret in exchange for a reduced sentence.
The original Thieves essential oil made by vinegar containing a variety of aromatic herbs including clove, cinnamon, rosemary, eucalyptus, and lemon. One of the most popular Thieves oil blends based on the Thieves story includes clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary.
I thought it would be fantastic to share how to make your own thieves’ oil blend and all of the different applications for it. If you have a few oils on hand, you are able to make your own Thieves Essential Oil and reap the same incredible benefits as this wonder oil.

Top 5 Household Uses for Thieves Essential Oil
1. Diffusing:
The amount you use will be determined by the brand of diffuser you own. A general guideline is to diffuse 10-15 drops of Thieves for 30 minutes, three times per day.
2. All-purpose Spray:
In a glass spray bottle, add one drop of Thieves to every half ounce of water. Shake thoroughly before each use, and use to clean counters, tables, and other surfaces. It functions as a standard all-purpose spray.
3. Cleaning Toys:
When washing toys by hand, add a few drops of essential oils to the washer or sink. This ranges from plastic toys to stuffed animals. This is ideal for when your children are sick because it provides extra cleaning power as well as a pleasant mood-enhancing scent.
4. Floor Cleaner:
When you go to mop the floor, mix about 10 drops with half a bucket of water and use that instead of a mop cleaner.
5. Freshen the Room:
I use the all-purpose homemade cleaner to freshen and disinfect rooms by spraying it on furniture, curtains, and even beds. Of course, do not apply oil directly to furniture or fabrics.
